Record Store Day Exclusive

A previously officially unreleased live recording from Los Angeles on 5th September, 1974, between the Diamond Dogs tour and the Philly Dogs tour. Produced by David Bowie and mixed by Tony Visconti at Human Studios, NYC in October/November 2016. 3 LP set with etching on sixth side.

Recorded live at Los Angeles Amphitheatre, L.A. California, USA 1974, September 5, as part of the BBC coverage of Bowie's 1974 tour and then current period. Some recordings and footage from the concert were first broadcast in 1975 on the BBC TV special "Cracked Actor". In 1990 the professionally recorded tapes were first made available unofficially in a different mix than the one included on the official release. There is a myriad of releases, including some that contain the full intro (here reduced to less than two minutes), and more of the stage commentary from Bowie himself than is included on the official release. See Bowie* - Strange Fascination for the master release of the unofficial releases.

Record Store Day 2017 available in independent record shops, 3-LP set with etched vinyl. Limited edition of 17,000 copies worldwide (5000 for UK).

Artist name given simply as 'Bowie' (in the style of Diamond Dogs) on front cover, spines, labels, and etching.

D1 is preceded by an (unlisted) pre-recorded tape of 'Future Legend', from Diamond Dogs.

Mastered at Air Mastering, London

Reviews:
  • Inabel
Sanitised and edited down Super Golden Radio shows bootleg, most Bowie chat now missing and so is street/dork barking intro
  • Captain America
CD release is due on June 16th 2017 and pre-order price is £14.04 delivered at azn. Vinyl is £43.09 delivered
  • riki
amazon sold the vinyl?? It wasn't supposed to be record stores and speculators only?
  • GYBYXOH
HAHA flag this all you want guys.Every day more of these show up unsold. You guys are going to have drop the price eventually.
  • WOGY
EU and US have different MSRP so the higher price could be the EU price (if the seller is from the EU).
  • Jark
I'm looking to buy, not sell a copy of this superb release. However, I have to say your comments are really immature
  • Billy Granson
Oh hey look the numbers are rolling all of you are trying to get way too much money for this. Give it up guys.
  • Ishnsius
So is this album better that cd bootleg strange fascination??? Thanks
  • Zymbl
The bootleg is an audience recording made by a Japanese taper near the speaker stack, part of all the young dudes is missing because tape flip. The official release is a pro quality Soundboard recording and so it sounds a lot better and all the young dudes is complete
  • Zavevidi
No it is not.its missing the full intro ..for a start
  • Bloodfire
yes, but so is the 2 CD so you can save some $ :-)
  • Kendis
Hi,the sound is excellent (Vinyl Issue), the vinyl has no annoying noises or whatsoever. It's worth to have it and to listen to.
  • Arryar
Thank you.The cd bootleg is bad recording?? Or sound diferent At cracket actor??.
  • Nanecele
Yes this LP it is better than the CD or record of Strange Facination
  • Wrathmaster
170000 copies made...Why is this still going for $80-120 USD???This is ridiculous...Already many other RSD releases are coming down.....I'm checking on this one every couple or days or so.
  • BORZOTA
Are you sure you don't mean 1,700,000 and not 170,000?
  • Impala Frozen
hi, the thing is that price of this record is high in the start so price on discogs is also even higher because people don't sell it for the price they paid.
  • Ghile
Hi i thing that their are 17.000 copies no 170.000But price is too much.
  • Na
17 000 not 170 000.Not much for Bowie .
  • xander
The clarity and depth of this one has me floored.Enjoy it very much...other than the middle pocket in the Trifold (which ripped about a quarter of an inch)-Ouch!Beautiful gloss and packaging.
  • Xor
Saw a copy of this today a week after RSD in Honest Jons Records in London for a reasonable £35. Deffo worth getting. If, like me, you love David Live (I never understood why that album has such a bad rap, in my view its his best live album) you'll like this. Great pressing and packaging as well.
  • Gabar
Erm, I think you'll find £35 is a lot less than most triple albums being released on vinyl these days. Compared to the Bowpromo, which is essentially half an album of barely different versions of previously issued tracks and typically being sold for £45-50 on RSD, this is a steal.
  • ARE
Do you think 35£ is reasonable? Why does it cost more than any other triple?
  • Zulkigis
I love David Live..I got this last week for RSD..it's an awesome package
  • Moralsa
This is superb.... loving every minute! Just played Space Oddity and literally had goosebumps for the length of the entire song....
  • Kefrannan
will wait 6 months for this to come back down to MSRP....
  • Katishi
Such a magnificent recording, beautifully remastered and nicely packaged. Shame that it's about the only RSD17 release I bought (and I bought a lot) that doesn't have a download code included. Par for the course with Parlophone who are all about the £££ with the Bowie releases they're working on.
  • BlackBerry
Wonder if they are working on eventually releasing this on CD, Digital Download, and streaming services.
  • Thabel
From 55 to 36 listed in a few days, but "never sold"?
  • Otrytrerl
There is a two week delay before statistics get updated.
